No one can make you feel inferior without your consent

I've always loved this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt. But today I wonder, is it true? And actually think about it before you respond....aren't there times when this isn't true? Then what makes it true in some cases but not in others? Or, perhaps, is the whole theory shot? Is this quote just one of those 'feel good' quotes that is supposed to make you feel empowered so you get off your butt and do something? And is it empowered or inpowered? (coolchick?) And what does it say about me that I don't know?

Great quote. And yes, it's 'empowered'. One of my favorite words!

through therapy, I have learned her quote is true. No one can make you feel any feeling without your consent, and yes, contrary to popular opinion, we always have a choice in life. When someone does something awful and says "I didn't have a choice" yes, they did, they just picked the wrong one.

Eleanor Roosevelt was so right...
